Before taking our courses, please first check whether any qualifications you have previously obtained from other professional bodies and institutions (including universities) can count towards CII qualifications. This can help you avoid duplicate learning and obtain your target qualification faster.
Recognition of Prior Learning and Standards
Thank you for considering CII Recognition of Prior Learning. If you have completed relevant courses through other professional bodies or universities, you may apply for exemptions from examinations and qualifications for qualification purposes. Based on the published qualification requirements, exemptions can help you obtain CII qualifications faster. If you hold a degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline (such as accounting, business, law, finance, management or mathematics), you may be awarded credits that count towards CII qualifications. Details of our standards and the most common Recognition of Prior Learning cases (UK university degrees in business, law or mathematics-related disciplines) are set out in the following document:
Apply for Exemptions
You can view all other UK degrees and professional qualifications we have recently assessed at the link below. If your specific qualification is not found in the search, we recommend that you submit an application first. After receiving your application form, transcripts and certificates, we will inform you of the next steps. Please enter the awarding body and qualification name as shown on your qualification documents.
Obtain CII Credits
If, after checking, you find that your qualification is confirmed as prior learning, you need to submit an online application on the CII UK headquarters website at cii.co.uk/prior-learning, together with scanned copies of your supporting documents. Our customer service team will review and confirm your qualification by email.
If your application is successful, you will need to pay a partial fee to obtain credits before your prior learning is recognized.
We will inform you of the fee amount based on CII credits and your membership grade.

Once Recognition of Prior Learning is successfully confirmed, you must obtain the credits within thirty days of receiving the confirmation letter. If the credits are not obtained within that period, they will lapse and you will need to reapply.
